Mafilika is a unique Afro-rock-reggae five-piece band, started in 2007. Currently it is based in Lilongwe, Malawi’s capital city. The group’s music is a fusion of traditional Malawian rhythms, Afro jazz rock and reggae, creating ‘Afro-rock-reggae’. In August 2008 Mafilika participated in the Music Crossroads Inter-Regional Finals held in Lilongwe, Malawi. From May/June 2009, Mafilika toured the Netherlands and Mozambique, performing at the Independence Music Festival in Maputo.
Locally Mafilika has worked with organizations such as UNICEF, PSI and Plan International as entertainment group during the respective organisations’ nationwide tours.
Mafilika is currently working on their first album, Woloka Africa.
